Party City Has the Ultimate Memorial Day Checklist to Make Any Summer Party a Splash

Rockaway, NJ (PRWEB) May 02, 2012

Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, and with gas prices rising towards $ 5 per gallon, families can avoid the high cost of travel this summer and instead throw "backyard getaways," or budget-friendly summer parties right at home. Party City's Celebration Experts have provided a checklist outlining all the summer party essentials needed to take advantage of warmer weather and entertain outdoors. Whether hosting the ultimate backyard bash, a large block party or casually sipping cocktails on the patio with friends, Party City's summer checklist identifies the party essentials necessary for any occasion this season.

SUMMER STAPLES CHECKLIST

Bright Delights - Stock up on vibrant colored serveware and tableware in pink, green and blue hues to perfectly compliment any summer party scene. Brightly colored drink dispensers are a must-have for summer entertaining and perfectly compliment classic summer drinks like chilled lemonade or frozen margaritas. Trade in the traditional beer cooler for colorful plastic party tubs and ice buckets to add a touch of color to any summer party. Ice cream is a staple at any summer party, so serve everyone's favorite frozen treats in bright serveware. To create beautiful place settings all summer long, pair bright colors and eye-popping patterns with neutral accents, like woven bamboo chargers.

Ultimate BBQ Party Kit - Warm summer nights are the perfect occasion to fire up the grill, and grill masters will find Party City's American Summer BBQ Party Kit ideal for showcasing their outdoor culinary skills. The BBQ Party Kit provides everything needed in one convenient package, including serveware, table cover, patriotic invitations, American flag banner, centerpieces, balloons, and streamers. Summer entertaining is all about simple party planning, so for any BBQ party, plan a simple menu with a few cookout classics like hamburgers, hotdogs, corn on the cob and potato salad.

Red, White and Blue Jamboree - Celebrate American pride this summer during the long Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends with festive patriotic parties. Stars-and-stripes and patriotic-themed decorations and party supplies come in handy throughout the summer months, and red, white and blue hanging fans and metallic garland strategically hung from the ceiling bring the magic of Memorial Day inside by recreating a fireworks scene. Add a fun twist to any patriotic gathering by quenching guests' thirsts with one or two novelty drinks, such as "American Dream" cocktails, a cranberry blend garnished with tropical blue pop rocks around the rim and adorned with a patriotic parasol.

Lasting Memories - Summer is the perfect occasion to spend quality time with family and friends and create lasting memories. Staging a photo booth area during every party is a fun way to make everyone a star and create picture perfect moments. Provide an abundance of star-spangled props, such as flags, hats, pinwheels, bubbles and party leis, to keep everyone smiling. These photos make great party favors for guests, or you can send their photos out later in thank you notes.

Cool Pool Party - Lazy summer days spent by the pool are the perfect way to celebrate summer, and a day in the sun wouldn't be complete without pool-friendly activities and water toys, such as paddle balls, inflatable beach balls, and relay sticks. Keep it cool with frozen treats, like sundaes, popsicles or snow cones, incorporating the colors of summer with banana split dishes in orange, green, pink and blue. Freeze fruit juices in handy ice-lolly makers the night before, or for instant frozen fun, try the electric ice shaver with flavored syrups for delicious snow cones by the pool. Make any pool party a tropical paradise with cheerful floral motifs and classic luau accents, such as tiki torches, grass skirts and colorful hibiscus garlands.

A Thousand Ice Cream Cones and Other Extra Treats at Glenwood Hot Springs Every Day this Summer

Glenwood Springs, Colo. (PRWEB) May 15, 2012

Extraordinary efforts yield extraordinary results, a concept Glenwood Hot Springs takes to heart all year long, especially May through August, a time known at the hot springs resort as peak season. Summer is when the resorts water slides, miniature golf, spray-on tattoos, creamy and cool sweet treats, extended hours and savings packages come out to play, offering visitors extra options for fun and value.

We pull out all the stops for summer; its our most exciting season. We want visitors to have a memorable, fun-filled vacation at Glenwood Hot Springs, and we go to great lengths to make that happen, said Jeremy Gilley, Glenwood Hot Springs Director of Sales and Revenue.

For instance, nothing says summer like an ice cream cone, and the Grill at Glenwood Hot Springs adds summer staff just to keep up with demand for this all-time favorite treat. On a typical summer day the Grill dispenses 1,000 cones! Chocolate, vanilla, and a twist that combines the two are always popular, but flavorbursts are another way to add some zing to plain vanilla. Choose from fun flavors like root beer, peach, strawberry, blue raspberry, watermelon, cheesecake, banana, and even green apple. The flavor options explode exponentially with shaved ice. Pick from 25 flavors; for something different, try the cotton candy, pink lemon sour, or black cherry. Other cool summertime treats available at the Grill include fruit smoothies and iced coffees. The Grill is open daily for breakfast and lunch during peak season from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the Snack Bar is open from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

As the worlds largest hot springs pool, Glenwood Hot Springs knows how to make an extra big splash. Aside from a pool the length of a football field, two water slides the Green Amazon and the Blue Comet provide thrills for daredevils both young and young at heart. Each slide offers over 300 feet of twists and turns, cascading down more than four stories! Slides are open daily in the summer from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and riders can choose passes with four, eight, or unlimited rides. One of the best summertime values is called the Super Splash and combines admission to the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, an all-day water slide pass, and a slice of pizza and refillable drink cup from the Grill; weekend rates for adults are $ 43.25, children $ 36. Weekday rates are slightly less. A Splash package is also available and includes pool admission, an eight-ride water slide pass and refillable drink cup for $ 29.50 for adults, $ 22.50 for children.

Another Glenwood Hot Springs extra that parents of youngsters appreciate is the Kiddie Pool, located at the east end of the property. A few inches of water and a gentle fountain are all it takes to keep kids safely corralled and entertained, while ample deck space provides plenty of room to spread out toys and gear. Of course, a Glenwood Hot Springs lifeguard is on duty at all times, keeping a watchful eye on tots. Kiddie Pool hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.

Perhaps the most obvious cue that summer has arrived at Glenwood Hot Springs is the appearance of poolside cabanas across the property. These temporary shelters provide extra shade on sunny Colorado days, as well as privacy. Each of the resorts five cabanas is equipped with cushioned patio furniture, a ceiling fan, four plush towels, and a drink cooler stocked with ice and four bottles of water. Cabanas are only available during peak season and can be rented for a full day for $ 85 or for a half-day for $ 50.

Other venues that are extra popular during peak season are the Airbrush Temporary Tattoo Tent and the Glenwood Hot Springs Miniature Golf. The tattoo tent is located next to the Slide Hut near the deep end. Choose from a selection of nearly 300 temporary tattoos. There are designs to suit every taste, including zodiac, Chinese and Celtic symbols, animals and transportation; choose a single design or build a custom work of art. The alcohol-based tattoos are waterproof and last up to five days. Prices range from $ 4 to $ 15 depending on size. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Anyone up for an extra challenge will find it on the Glenwood Hot Springs Miniature Golf Course. Located near the water slides, the venue is shady, providing a break from the summer sun. The 18-hole course includes bridges, tunnels, streams, waterfalls and the opportunity to win a free game by shooting a hole-in-one. Summer hours are Noon 10:00 PM, Sunday Thursday, and Noon 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. Adults play for $ 6.25, children for $ 4.25.
